“Grass-fed whey” vs. “Pasture-fed whey”

In order to be considered "grass fed whey", the cows that provide the meat or dairy for a product must be fed grass and/or bailed grasses throughout the entirety of their lifetime. The cows can never have grain and must have continuous access to pastures at all times. Alternatively, the term "Pasture fed whey" is a marketing term. It is not defined by the USDA and to be "pasture-fed" cows simply must have access to pasture for some portion of the year to use that term.
