Looking for a delicious but nutritious mid-afternoon snack or breakfast option? Check out our creamy, nutritionally-complete blueberry avocado protein smoothie for the perfect balance of taste and nutrition. A healthy diet should optimally cover all your macronutrient needs — fat, protein, carbohydrates and water. One food item can rarely provide them all in one go, but this blueberry protein smoothie can!
First, the liquid base is coconut water, which is loaded with electrolytes and minimal, easy-to-digest sugar for maximum hydration. Coconut water contains the same amount of potassium as you would find in four bananas.
To the coconut water, we next added a scoop of our high quality whey protein. Vanilla or unflavored would probably taste best in this blend, but we will leave that up to you.
Throw in a cup of frozen or fresh blueberries, renowned for their concentration of antioxidants and fiber. Look for wild berries for the most antioxidant power. These tiny blue fruits are loaded with phytochemicals that help protect your cells against damage. The berries also provide the healthy carbs your body needs for energy.
Finally, the addition of avocado rounds out the flavor and the nutrition profile of this simple avocado smoothie . Avocados are a super food recognized for their healthy, monounsaturated fat content.
This blueberry protein smoothie has all your macronutrient bases covered: coconut water for hydration, whey provides protein, blueberries contain healthy carbs, while avocado adds in the healthiest fat. For a perfectly balanced snack or breakfast, this simple avocado smoothie has it all.
